For the second consecutive year on March 29, the Forum “Transfer of European Policy, Strategies and Business Practices” was held in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. This Forum is the part of the joint project of National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky KPI” and Executive Agency of Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA) “European Business Models: Transformation, Harmonization and Implementation in Ukraine”№571313-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE. The project is funded with the support of the ERASMUS + Program of the European Union in accordance with the terms of the grant received by the Jean Monnet Fund.
Thanks to the powerfulsupport of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, the Directorate of Strategic Planning and European Integration of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as the Kyivacademic community,the Forum brought together more than 100 participants from nearly 20 Ukrainian academic institutions. Forum participants gathered in order to jointly discuss various aspects of our country’s relations with the European Union.
Opening the Forum, academic coordinator of the project “European Business Models: Transformation, Harmonization and Implementation in Ukraine”, Doctor of Economics, ProfessorLiudmyla Shulhina emphasized that, despite the 30-year period of active development of Jean Monnet projects, the relevance of this activity has only increased, and urged scientists specializing in the integration, harmonization and strategic implementation of European business models to further fruitful interaction.
Welcomeword was addressed to the Forum participants by PetroKrainik,Expert on Jean Monnet’s projects in National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, who noted the effectiveness of nowadays projects based on 30-year experienceof Jean Monnet’s activity. Expert emphasized the importance of such projects for the practical implementation of our countries aim for gaining full membership in the EU.
Another welcome speech was madebySerhiiShkabko,Acting Head of the International Educational Projects Department of the Main Directorate of International Cooperation in the Directorate of Strategic Planning and European Integration of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. He emphasized the University’s achievements in the field of European projects and their contribution to our state cooperation with the European Union.
Forum united 4 panel discussions. The first discussionpanelconcerned the modern vector of development of the world economy in the conditions of global instability. Within the framework of this panel the participants listened to the report of the owner / director of Atlas Group Kateryna Melnyk –“Effective business in the conditions of European integration processes in the Ukrainian market”; and to the report ofDoctor of Economics, Professor Liudmyla Shulhina and Ph.D. Zhaldak Hanna with the topic“Can the Education System Affect the Vectors Changing of the World Economy?”
In the framework of the second discussion panel“Innovation-Investment Processes and International Scientific and Technical Cooperation”, Ph.D. Yaresko Renata, Head of Public Affairs Division of SE “NAEGC Energoatom”presented a report “Nuclear Energy – Investments in the Future of Ukraine”; and theIgor Sikorsky KPI student ofthe “Logistics”specialization Victoria Semendiak, introduced to the students audience the international European student nonprofit organization BEST.
The third discussion panel“Trends of theInternational ManagementDevelopment, Innovations, and Logistics”united innovation-oriented reports. Namely, OlenaPidlisna,the Management and Marketing Faculty Deputy Dean of International Activity, reported about the innovative entrepreneurship activities of the Igor Sikorsky KPI.And Andrew Erofeiev, theteam member of the winners in Municipal Public BudgetCompetition (Budget of the Participation) in 2018, made a project “The Laboratory of Robotics RTF lab”, which was approved and successfully implemented.
The fourth discussion panel“Problems of Human Capital Development and Social Policy in the GlobalizationProcess” combines two reports. Firstwas presented by the Expert from the EU, PhD Malgorzata Okreglicka,Czestochowa Technological University, Poland. The topicwas “Commitment to the Sustainability of Studentswithin a Responsible Management Education” and the contentfocused on the sustainable development of students who have chosen their profession in a responsible manner.The second report was taken byAngelaAlexandruk and KaterynaKozachenko,students of specialization “Management of Innovation Activity”, participants of the training “Achievements and Prospects of European Integration of Ukraine”. Girls presented the survey conclusion regarding the European values in Ukrainian society.
The Forum participants noted the high level of preparation of the speakers, each of whom not only shared interesting and up-to-date information, but also created a kind of discussion club, since each report gave rise to lively discussions.
An open panel discussion with participation of ProfessorMaria Nesterova, coordinator of the project Jean Monnet in Ukraine “Social Cohesion in Education and Management: European Studies”, which has become an opportunity for its participants to share both the achievements and challenges of implementation of European Studies initiatives supported by the EU. All participants emphasized that during the last decade, projects within the framework of the Jean Monet direction play an increasingly important role in improving the quality of teaching.And also noted that the Ukrainian academic community has accumulated considerable experience in implementing these projects, since more than 70 projects have already been implemented or are being implemented, and its participants have successfully integrated into the global network of Jean Monetprojects.
In conclusion, the organizers of the Forum sincerely thanked everyone for their active participation in this scientific event. On 21, 22, 23 and 25 March 2019 the trainings “Harmonization of Standards as Basis for the Introduction of the European Business Models in Ukraine” and “System Approach to Harmonization of Standards – a Guarantee of Success of the European Business Models in Ukraine” were held in the Igor Sikorsky KPI. These trainings take place every semester and are among the important directions of the project “European business models: transformation, harmonization and implementation in Ukraine”, the work on which has been continued at the University since 01.09.2017.
The purpose of the trainings is to substantiate the importance of the process of Ukrainian standards harmonization to EU-ones to improve business conditions in Ukraine, to provide knowledge about standardization systems and methods of honest business, as well as to develop competencies of participants to create their own effective start-up projects.
Coaches – academic coordinator of the project team–Doctor of Economics, Professor Liudmyla SHULGINA and project participant Ph.D. Anna ZHADLAK – first of all highlighted the importance of the Jean Monnet module projects in promoting European values and the extraordinary role played by this area of activity in European integration processes over the course of its 30 years existence. Then they acquainted students with the essence and tools of Ukraine’s standards harmonization with the EU standards, the dynamics and role of this process in the European business models implementation in Ukraine.
The participants had got directly from European experts via online communication many interesting and useful information about the standards of various areas of the EU’slife, and above all in the field of education. The experts were this time Dr. Malgorzata OKREGLICKA and Dr. Anna LEMANSKA-MAJDZIC (Czestochowa Technological University, Poland), as well as prof. Nadiia DUBROVINA (Bratislava Economics University, Slovakia).
Representative of the business– operational director of the retail chain “Andre Tan” Lana Statsenko–explained about the practical aspects of using the quality service standards. With great interest, the students learned how the network leadership motivates employees to continually study customer expectations and apply their knowledge in order to improve the standards of services quality management.
The trainings brought together over 40 participants from Ukrainian universities who gathered at the Igor Sikorsky KPI to explore in more detail the aspects of Ukraine’s standards harmonization with the EU standards and offered their own projects which could stimulate this process. In addition to the traditionally present students of the Igor Sikorsky KPI, this time the representatives of famous Kiev universities were significant, among them: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Aviation University, BohomoletsNational Medical University, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”.Also, it should be noted that the trainees of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport (Kharkiv) have joined the training participants in this “season”.
As the results of the trainings, the participantsteams have developed and presented 9 own projects. The participants of the trainings have received practical skills of effective team interaction while working on projects in which they have improved the existing or developed their own standards of the successful implementation of the European business models in Ukraine. At the same time, the main idea was that the systematic approach should be appliedtostandards harmonization, including the experience of the EU market, the science and education impact on the economy, the role of socially-oriented business and other innovative changes in the business environment.
Consequently, the coaches (trainers) managed not only to develop project competencies and to motivate the academic community to participate in similar trainings, but also to promote the dissemination of information about the project Jean Monnet in various universities of Kiev and Ukraine. Summing up the trainings, academic coordinator of the project team,Doctor of Economics, Professor Liudmyla Shulginaannouncedwith pleasure the opening of the next “season” of the standards harmonization trainings.
On March 19, 21, 26, 28, 2019, the training courses “Integration Transformation of the EU: Trends, Dynamics, Priorities” (trainer PhD V. Chornii) and “Achievements and Prospects of European Integration For Ukraine” (trainer PhD, Assoc. Professor I. Manaienko) were held at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The event took place within the project of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA).
The participants of the training were graduate students and students of 2-5 courses of different specialties of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University. About 55 people took part in the trainings.
During the trainings, participants received basic knowledge of EU expansion priorities, European experience of supranational management, business development in European integration, organizational and economic success of Ukraine’s European integration, the role of the EU in shaping the country's economic security, etc. Trainersuccessfully applied various methods of activation and involvement of the audience: mini-lectures, brainstorming, case studies, role-playing games, debates, etc.
Leading experts on EU development, who are graduates of the Faculty of Management and Marketing, are also involved in raising the level of practical mastering of the acquired knowledge of the participants, including:
– Chornii Bogdan, deputy general director of KP “Kyiv Investment Agency” at KCA, which highlighted the current state of investment attraction in the context of European integration;
– Basilev Vyacheslav, a professional trader, the best portfolio manager of Ukraine in 2009 and the winner of the Best Private Investor 2011 competition in the nomination: “The Most Profitable Trader” (Dragon Capital), which revealed the tendencies of crypt-trading in the EU and Ukrainian markets realities;
– Andriy Bondarenko, a graduate of the MBA Cass Business School, investment director of Divan TV, who shared with the audience his experience in obtaining an MBA in the UK, to Brexit's account and analyzed the specifics of the processes of adapting the Ukrainian economy to the European market.
At the final stage of the training participants presented their research on the subject of European integration.

On 12, 13, 16, 19th of April 2019, the training courses «EU as Endeavor Entrepreneur» and «Benchmarking and Strategic Implementation of the European Business Model for Ukraine» were held at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Trainings were organized by Maryna Pichugina and Lina Artemenko.
The goal of the training is to show the EU as entrepreneur that gives advantages and perspectives both for individuals and for the society and to gain competencies and practical skills in developing own business models, business projects, focused on European competition policy.
30 students, PhD-students and teachers from the Igor Sikorsky KPI, the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Zhytomyr National Agroecological Universitytook part in the trainings.
These courses enhance students’ understanding the modern European integration process, its impact and perspectives for everyone. Students received basic information on the influence of the EU on their industry, on the economy of Ukraine. The courses helps students to: work with web platforms that provide information about the EU and grant projects; gives the opportunity to use these tools for practical purposes; improve skills in developing own projects and in solving business simulation.
Students received the practical experience of effective team interaction. The program included: discussions, debates, case studies, brief presentations, analytical and teamwork. At the end of the trainings, the participants received certificates.
According to the results of the trainings, 5 projects were developed and presented by the student teams.
On 24, 25 and 26 October 2019 the trainings “Harmonization of Standards as Basis for the Introduction of the European Business Models in Ukraine” and “System Approach to Harmonization of Standards – a Guarantee of Success of the European Business Models in Ukraine” were held in the Odessa National Economic University. These trainings take place every semester and are among the important directions of the project “European business models: transformation, harmonization and implementation in Ukraine”, the work on which has been continued at the University since 01.09.2017.

As the results of the trainings, the participant’s teams have developed and presented 6 own projects. The participants of the trainings have received practical skills of effective team interaction while working on projects in which they have improved the existing or developed their own standards of the successful implementation of the European business models in Ukraine. At the same time, the main idea was that the systematic approach should be applied to standards harmonization, including the experience of the EU market, the science and education impact on the economy, the role of socially-oriented business and other innovative changes in the business environment.

On October 22, 24, 29, 31, 2019, the training courses “Integration Transformation of the EU: Trends, Dynamics, Priorities” (trainer – V.Chornii) and “Achievements and Prospects of European Integration For Ukraine” (trainer – I.Manaienko) were held at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The participants of the training were graduate students and students of 1-6 courses of different specialties of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. About 50 people took part in the trainings.
During the trainings, participants received basic knowledge of EU expansion priorities, European experience of supranational management, business development in European integration, organizational and economic success of Ukraine’s European integration, the role of the EU in shaping the country’s economic security, etc.
At the final stage of the training participants presented their research on the subject of European integration. According to the results of the training, the most active participants received certificates.
On November 18, 2019 – Roundtable debate «Academic Entrepreneurship and Start–up Activity of Students in Conditions of European Integration» was held.
There were representatives of the different target groups – teachers, researchers, post-graduate students, students, professional groups.
The following topics were discussed: teaching methodology in the context of European integration of Ukraine; raising the level of economic subjects teaching in the conditions of globalization and European integration of Ukraine; organization of students research work in the economic disciplines learning: European and international experience.

On November 28, 2019 the open lecture “Origins of the emergence and development of European integration” was organized by Kuznietsova Kateryna.
During the lecture the topic of evolution and emergence of Western European integration and the formation of the European Union were considered, as well it was discussed the ways and means of its growth. In particular, it was considered the aspect of the EU success, concerning the leadership as a pledge for a successful manager to transfer current trends and European countries; experiences into Ukrainian realities.
To show the practical side of this issue, CEO of Company «System&Interim Management» Politiko Dmytro was invited with the presentation “Leadership: from theory to practice”.
The event was attended by over 150 students of 1-6 courses of the Management and Marketing Faculty of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, post-graduate students and teachers of the Management department.
